Find the area of a 9-inch by 6-inch rectangle with a 4-inch by 4-inch square removed from one corner.

Explanation:

Area of a rectangle with dimension " l by w" is given by :-


A_r=l* w

Area of square with dimension "a by a" is given by :_


A_s=(a)^2

Now Using (1), Area of rectangle with dimension 9-inch by 6-inch will be :-


A_r=9* 9=54\ in^2

Using (2), Area of square with dimension 4-inch by 4-inch will be :-


A_s=4^2=16\ in^2

Now, the required area =
A_r-A_s=54-16=38\ in^2

Hence, B is the correct option.
