How did the cold war affect popular culture in the 1950s

Because everyone was afraid of the communists, things like nuclear war and espionage became center points in popular cultures. Comic books, movies, books, everything was related to fighting communism, to fighting and surviving a nuclear war. All mediums of fun had evil communist spies and similar things.
