tRNA to which amino acids are attached by high energy bonds before adding correct amino acid to the nascent polypeptide is known as charged tRNA.

The two functional parts of a charged tRNA are-

1. Anticodon loop- which contains triplet of anticodon nucleotides that base pair with the codon in mRNA.

2. 3' end of the tRNA- site to which amino-acid attaches via an ester linkage between 3'OH of tRNA and carboxyl group of the amino acid.
