1) Solving that absolute value equation:

|2x+5|=13 Applying the absolute value eq. property

2x +5 = 13 subtracting 5 from both sides

2x = 13-5

2x= 8 Dividing by 2

x =4

2x +5=-13 subtracting 5 from both sides

2x = -13-5

2x = -18 Dividing by 2

x= -9

Then x=4 or x =-9

2) The equations 2x +5 =13 and 2x +15= -13

Resulting in x=4 or x =-9
