Actually, Sickle disease would be advantageous to a person living in Central Africa. The patient of Sickle disease becomes immune to Malaria then, paramoecium (malaria pathogen) can't affect them. As Malaria virus and vectors that spread them is a lot in Central Africa it is good to having a Sickle disease for them (just from this point of view)
