simplify using the inverse of subraction/ addition than simplify further by multiplication/division.

To solve a two-step equation, instead of working forward, work backward to undo the operations. You want to work reverse the order of operations. For example, to solve 3x + 1 = 16, you can use subtraction to take away the 1 from both sides over the equal sign, and then use division to undo multiplication in the equation.
