The Land Bridge Theory is a popular model of migration into the New World.

Pre-Columbian: relating to the history and cultures of the Americas before the arrival of Columbus in 1492.

Mesoamerica was a region/cultural area in the Americas, extending approximately from central Mexico to Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and northern Costa Rica.

A mother culture is a culture that created traditions that were passed on to other cultures that came after them. A sister culture is a culture that takes traditions from the civilizations around them and then passes their "patch-work" cultures onto succeeding civilizations later.
