The molecules in compound AB are highly polar. The molecules in compound XY are nonpolar. Which is true for these two compounds? Compound AB has a higher boiling point than compound XY. The forces between compounds AB and XY are the same. Compound XY has a higher boiling point than compound AB.

the boiling point of AB will be high as it is polar and thus intermolecular bonding thus increasing the bp of the compound !!

so the answer is first one !!

The correct answer is that the The compound AB has higher boiling point that the compound XY

The polar compounds have higher boiling point than the non polar compounds. This is because they are held together by the strong hydrogen bond which is more stronger than the other forces.

The compound XY has lower boiling and melting point because they are held together by weak van der Waals forces.
