Can anyone please show the steps to solve Negative 1 over 2 x+3= -x+7

x = -8 I just need to see the correct steps on how to solve it.

`-\frac12x+3=-x+7`

Add -3 to both sides:


`-\frac12x+3-3=-x+7-3`

`-\frac12x=-x+4`

Multiply both sides by -2:


`-2*\left(-\frac12\right)x=-2(-x+4)`

`x=-2(-x+4)`

On the right hand side, distribute the -2:


`x=2x-8`

Add -2x to both sides:


`x-2x=2x-2x-8`

`-x=-8`

Divide by -1:


`(-x)/(-1)=(-8)/(-1)`

`x=8`

(and not
`x=-8`, unless the original equation wasn't correctly written/interpreted?)
