Why did the small states object to the Virginia plan?

it gave too much power to the larger states and small states like new jersey and new york persay wouldnt have the say as a larger state like virginia who had a larger state so theyd have more representation

Smaller states objected to the Virginia Plan because the Virginia Plan tied each state's representation in the legislative branch to population.
