  • Animals that eat plants have more flat teeth because they eat grass and leaves and Animals that eat other animals have more pointed teeth because they eat meat.
  • Since animals that eat plants (herbivores) have to consume the grass and leaves they generally have wide and flat teeth that helps them to chew grass and leaves which are generally very tough due to the presence of rigid cell wall. E.g cows have flat teeth.
  • On the other hand, animals that eat other animals (carnivores) have sharp and pointed teeth which helps them to tear the tough flesh of animals which would not be possible if they had flat teeth. E.g tigers have sharp teeth.
