its not the first or the last, and the third one doesn't sound like a GZaroff answer so i'd go with they have reason, especially since you have to kill in order to survive in that island against zaroff. if anything those answers sound weak.

Answer:

  • They have reason

Step-by-step explanation:

General Zaroff discloses to Rainsford that he had gotten to the heart of the matter in his life that he felt exhausted with animals since they were no match at all for a seeker with his minds about him and a powerful rifle.

Basically, there was no more interest or fervor in hunting for Zaroff, so he chose to chase man. The expectation was that in the event that a man were being chased, at that point that man would think of smart approaches to endure. In the event that that occurred, at that point Zaroff would have to a greater degree a psychological riddle to assemble amid the chase.

For Zaroff, he had figured out how to follow careless creatures; presently he needed to follow a creature who could excuse its circumstance and give a superior "amusement" for Zaroff to play.
