Write in slope-intercept form an equation of the line that passes through the given points.

(6,8),(3,−9)

please help me out!!

okay so you're going to want to find the m value of the slope-intercept form, which is the slope. In order to find that you need to label your first set of coordinates! Since we know that the 6 represents the X and the 8 represents the Y, those are your X(subscript 1) and your Y(subscript 1). Now you need to do the same for the second set of coordinates, labeling the 3 as X(subscript 2) and your -9 as Y(subscript 2).

After that, set them up like this:

m=y(subscript 2) - y(subscript 1) / X(subscript 2) - X(subscript 1)

After you get that solution, give yourself a pat on the back because you now have your M!

The rest is simply plugging in!

This next formula is where you find your formula:

( y(subscript 2) - y(subscript 1) ) = m( X(subscript 2) - X(subscript 1)

Then solve as you would!
