Using the scientific definition of work, does moving an object a greater amount of distance always require a greater amount of work? Why or Why not?

yes. if you push it farther, then you have to have a greater amount of force upon that object to move it to that destination

From above equation work done is directly proportional to the force and distance. So, moving an object a greater amount of distance always require a greater amount of work. Hence, this is the required solution.
