The sequence of events that revealed to the Europeans how Native Americans lived was the arrival of the European people, the colonization and exploitation of the Americas

The arrival of the Europeans to the continent from 1492, when Christopher Columbus landed on the Caribbean islands, profoundly transformed the social, economic, cultural and environmental configuration of America and the peoples who inhabited it. That's because the way of life with which the Native Americans lived was considered wild, dirty and wrong by the Europeans.
