What might be the author’s purpose for writing in first-person point of view?

to give the reader more information than the character has

to reveal all the characters’ thoughts and feelings

to enable the character to share thoughts with the reader directly

All of the above. I write in first person usually and I like to convey more information about the character, reveal their thoughts and feelings, and to share thoughts directly.
