The common denominator between the two is "12"
Meaning the first fraction would have to be multiplied by 4; 36/12
And the second fraction would have to be multiplied by 3; 9/12
so 36- 9= 27 or
(27/12)

The answer is 9/4
The other answer as a mix number is 2 1/4
The answer simplified is 9/4
