We are to translate into an equation

Eight more than the quotient of a number and 3 is equal to 4.

Let the number be w

Hence, quotient of w and 3 is

(w)/(3)

Therefore, eight more than the quotient of a number and 3 is equal to 4

Is given as

(w)/(3)+8=4

Solving for w

we have

\begin{gathered} (w)/(3)=4-8 \\ (w)/(3)=-4 \\ w=-12 \end{gathered}

Therefpore, the equation is

(w)/(3)+8=4
