O x = -24, x = 16

Explanation:

To solve this simplify the equation until it's just the absolute value brackets

7=.5 |x-4|-3

Add 3 to both sides and divide by .5 to get

20=|x-4|

Then solve this equation where the leftmost side is a positive and then a negative

So 20=x-4

x=24

24 is one of our answers

Then solve it when the left side is a negative

-20=x-4

x=-16 which is the other answer
