It is said that y varies directly to x which can be written as follows:

y = kx

where k is the constant of proportionality.

To be able to solve the problem, we need to determine the value of k. We do as follows:

y = kx
-252 = k(84)
k = -3

y = -3x
y = -3(74)
y = -222

Hope this helps. Have a nice day.
