A model rocket is launched is launched from a roof into a large field. The path of the rocket can be modeled by the equation y=-0.8^2+12x+25.8 where x horizontal distance, in meters, from the starting point on the roof and y is the height, in meters, above the ground.

How far horizontally from its starting point will the rocket land? Round your answers to the nearest hundredth.

y = - 0.8 x² + 12 x + 25.8
x 1/2 = (- 12 +/- √(144 + 82.56)) / (- 1.6)
x 1 = - 1.91 m, x 2 = 16.91 m
The staring point : x = 0 ( on the roof : height = 25.8 m )
Answer:
The rocket will land 16.91 m horizontally from its starting point.
