How do you solve this system by elimination?

-3x+4y=12
2x+y=-8

I dont know how to solve it.

-3x+4y=12 ...(1)
2x+y=-8 ...(2)
multiply (2)by -4
-8x-4y=32 ...(3)
add (1) and (3)
-3x+4y-8x-4y=12+32
-11x=44
x=44/-11=-4
from (2)
2(-4)+y=-8
y=-8+8=0
