On outboard boats, the capacity plate provides a horsepower rating. what does this rating mean?

The rating described in the task definitely means that the boats motor should not have higher horsepower than this rating. Since the capacity plate provides a particular horsepower rate you better not install a motor with larger than acceptable because there is a possibility that the boat will will leave you behind as it is too much power to handle.
