5x+3y=27
2x+6y=36

First times the top by 2.
10x+6y=54
2x+6y=36

Now subtract the two problums
10x+6y=54
-2x+6y=36
-----------------
8x=18

Now divide the 8 on both sides.
x=2.25

Now substitute the x for the 2.25 in one of the problums
2(2.25)+6y=36

Times the 2 by the 2.25.
4.5+6y=36

Subtract the 4.5 on both sides.
6y=31.5

Now divide the 6 on both sides to solve for y.
y=5.25

Your answers
y=5.25
x=2.25
(2.25,5.25)
