let number of science problems=x
no. of math, problems=x+10
x+x+10=42
2x=42-10=32
x=32/2=16
hence number of science problems=16
no.of math problems=16+10=26

first do 42-10
which is 32
then divide 32 by 2 and get 16
so your answer is 16 math problems and 26 science problems
