Combining Like Terms and the Distributive Property....

First you simplify

7x+2−6x−5

7x+2+6x+−5

Then you combine the like terms

7x+2+−6x+−5

(7x+6x)+(2+−5)

x+−3

The answer is
=x−3

Lets say x = 2

(7)(2)+2−(6)(2)−5
(7)(2)+2(6)(2)−5
=1
