Taskmaster answered this one. Question she/he answered was What is a word for a fat-soluble signal molecules that are derived from cholesterol.

Cell membrane is comprised of phospholipids (its major component ) which can create lipid bilayers because of their water attracting characteristics. Another lipid inside the cell membrane is cholesterol, which makes the cell membrane more fluid. Cholesterol is a waxy fat-like substance found in all cells of the body.
When you have a high cholesterol, it can create a plaque in your arteries thus, develop a high risk of heart disease. People who have high cholesterol has a greater possibility to acquire coronary heart diseases.

Answer:

Steroids

Step-by-step explanation:

Signal molecules are produced by signalling cells and bind to the target cells to initiate a response. Steroids come under the category of small hydrophobic signalling molecules. They are lipids and hence fat soluble.

They are derived from cholesterol thus share the chemical structure with it. They have a hydrocarbon skeleton in the form of four fused rings. They can have different types of functional groups attached in different manner to the carbon skeleton. Example of steroid hormones are estradiol and testosterone.
