Set up an equation with x as the age of the youngest child.
x + (x+2) + (x+4) + (x+6) = 84
4x + 12 = 84
4x = 72
x = 18
The youngest is 18. Get the other three by adding two years each time. Therefore, the ages are 18, 20, 22, and 24
