If blood cells are placed in hypertonic solution then they shrink. Blood cells in isotonic solutions won't shrink or sweep at all. If the same blood cells are placed in hypotonic solution then that's when the blood cell will grow in size.

Red blood cells placed in isotonic solution 0.85%
salt solution will be the same
