Two angles are supplementary. The measure of one angle is 10 degrees more than 3 times the other. Find the measure of each angle.

I strongly suggest you represent the 2 angles by 2 different letters, such as x and y. If x and y are supplementary, they add up to ... what?

Suppose we arbitrarily let x be the larger number.

Then x = 3y + 10 That is, x is equal to 3 times the angle y, PLUS 10 degrees more.

You will now have 2 equations: x + y = ??
x = 3y + 10

Eliminate x. Find y, Then go back and find x.

Check your work. Angles x and y MUST add up to ??
