7x - 11 = -19 + 3x

Let's first get the x isolated to one side, so subtract 3x from both sides:

4x - 11 = -19

Now add 11 to both sides:

4x = -8

Now to get x by itself, divide 4x by 4, and then divide the other side by 4, leaving:

x = -2

Check your work:
7(-2) - 11 = -19 + 3(-2)
-14 - 11 = -19 - 6
-25 = -25
Yep!
