4/8 or if easiest to u, 1/2.
You add 3/8 to 1/8, which gives u 4/8 subtract 4/8 to 8/8 or one whole and u get still, 4/8 which is equivalent to 1/2

The answer is 4/8 or 1/2.

Here's my work:
3/8 + 1/8 = 4/8
4/8 - 1 or 8/8 = 4/8
4/8 can be simplified to 1/2.
