We suppose that
The number of boys : x
The number of girls : y
There are 8 more girls than boy => y-8=x (1)
The ratio of boys to girls is 5:7 => x/y= 5/7 (2)
Replace (1) to (2) , then we have :
(y-8)/y=5/7
<=> y= 28
=> x = y-8= 28-8= 20
Good luck!
