Describe, in your own words, why granulated sugar will dissolve faster in a cup of coffee than sugar cubes will. Be specific in your explanation.

Granulated sugar has a greater surface area showing than sugar cubes do. Since it has more surface area showing, more sugar molecules can interact with the water at the same time allowing it to dissolve faster than a cube of sugar where only the molecules on the outside of the cube are exposed to the water.
