2x² + x - 6

The coefficient of x² is 2 and the constant term is -6. The product of 2 and -6 is -12. The factors of -12 which sum 1 are -3 and 4 so:

2(2x - 3) + x(2x - 3)

Factor 2x - 3 from 2(2x - 3) + x(2x - 3):

(2x - 3)(x + 2)
