Fires are caused by electric and gas lines that are damaged. As soon as the fire starts, it gets complicated for you to control. I hope this is the answer you are looking for! :)

Earthquakes can cause very large and catastrophic fires by severing fuel and electricity lines. The released fuel can be lit on fire by something like a cigarette or the severed electrical lines.
