A store offers some customers a coupon and then counts how many customers return to the store to shop again. The two-way table shows the results of this experiment.

Offered coupon Not offered coupon
Returned to store 85 60
Did not return to store 25 38

Select a word or phrase from in between the parentheses to correctly complete the statements describing the association.

More customers who returned to the store were (offered a coupon / not offered a coupon). More customers who did not return to the store were (offered a coupon/not offered a coupon). There (does / does not) appear to be an association between whether a customer received a coupon and the customer’s tendency to return to the store to shop again.
