When two lines are parallel they are going to have the same slope which is 3x. The only thing we need to find is the y intercept based on the point they say the equation passes. to do this you take away the y intercept of the equation that we have and replace x with -2 and the subtract 4 to the side with the y.. now we have 4-y=-6 Then we solve for y and get y=10 which is the y intercept of the equation that is parallel to y=3x=1 and it passes (-2,4) Therefore the answer is y=3x+10
