What is the solution to the inequality?

-6x + 5 > -1

A) x > -1
B) x > 1
C) x < 1
D) x < -1

The correct answer is C) x < 1

I assume you need to solve for x. To do so, you have to isolate x. The first step would be to subtract 5 from both sides.
-6x+5-5>-1-5
-6x>-6 ...divide both sides by -6
x<1

I flipped the sign because when getting rid of the number next to the variable, you flip the sign if the number is negative. If the number is positive, you DON'T flip the sign.
