I believe you drop the | lines. Then I think that it turns into 2x + 1 = 10. Next I believe you subtract 1 from each side to get 2x = 9. Then you divide both sides of the equation by 2 to get x = 4.5. To check your work simply plug in 4.5 for x. 2 times 4.5 is 9, 9 + 1 = 10. I hope this helped.
P.S. I have learned how to do most of those problems accurately

Let's solve your equation step-by-step.

|2x+1|=10

Solve Absolute Value.

|2x+1|=10We know either
2x+1=10or 2x+1=−10

2x+1=10(Possibility 1)

2x+1−1=10−1(Subtract 1 from both sides)

2x=9

2x/2=9/2(Divide both sides by 2)

x=9/2

2x+1=−10(Possibility 2)

2x+1−1=−10−1(Subtract 1 from both sides)

2x=−11

2x/2=−11/2(Divide both sides by 2)

x=−11/2

Answer:

x=9/2 or x=−11/2
