the trend for ionization energy is a general increase from left to right across a period. However phosphorus is found to have higher first ionization energy value than sulfur. Explain this exception to the general trend in terms of electron arrangements and attraction/repulsion

Since phosphorus is in the 5th group it has the ability to gain or lose electrons
