In the book Frankenstein, we learn about the relationship between Safie and Felix. Felix is one of the cottagers that the creature observes. One day, a mysterious woman arrives to the cottage, and after some time, we learn that this woman is called Safie and that she and Felix are in love.
Safie is a Turkish woman, and she is escaping from her father because of the limitations that Islam places on women. Safie's father was a Turk who was unjustly imprisoned, and who refused to allow Safie to marry Felix. He is a foil because he embodies the characteristics that are shown as negative in the story. He is a controlling man with little respect for women and no concern for love.
