-41=-2x-4x+1
Isolate x by moving the 1 to the other side:
-41-1=-2x-4x+1-1
-42=-2x-4x
Combine like terms:
-42=-6x
Divide both sides by -6:
7=x

Check:
-41=-2(7)-4(7)+1
-41=-14-28+1
-41=-42+1
-41=-41
