Can the sum of two mixed numbers be equal to 2? Explain why or why not. plz help fast

Let x and y be two positive mixed numbers. So,

x > 1 and y > 1

Therefore,

x + y > 1 + 1

x + y > 2

x + y can't be equal to 2, since the sum of both of them is always greater than 2.

Yes. The algebraic sum of a negative mixed number and other mixed number.
-1 1/3 + x = 2
x= 2 + 1 1/3

x = 3 1/3

So, the algebraic sum: (-1 1/3) + 3 1/3 = 2
