If a ribbon that is 30.1 inches long is cut into equal pieces that are 1.75 inches long, how many pieces of ribbon can be created?

Answer:

You can create 17 pieces at that length.

Explanation:

In order to find this, divide the amount of length you have by the size of a piece. This will give you the amount you can create.

30.1 / 1.75 = 17.2

Since .2 is not a whole piece, we ignore the extra and say that we can just create 17 pieces of that length.
