A car travels 28 miles north and then turns east. How far did the car travel east if the destination is 53 miles from the starting point?

well it depends on if the distance from the starting point is diagonal or not. If we imagine it as a box, a diagonal line (the best route) could be 53 miles to the point, or the distance around the box could be 53 miles. This dramatically changes the answer because 53 could be either of these answers, but not both.
