The statement that frescoes are wall paintings that are created on fresh plaster is true. The term "fresco" translates to “fresh” in Italian. It comes from the fact that a true fresco’s intonaco ( a thin layer of plaster) is wet when the paint is applied. There are three common types of fresco: buon, secco, and mezzo.
