do a proportion. 4 miles over 56 minutes equals x over 42 minutes. 4*42=168.
So now, all you have to do is set up your equation, 168=56x divide by 56 on both sides. You get x=3 miles

4 miles is 56 minutes is the same as 1 mile every 14 minutes.
All I did was divide 56 minutes by 14.
This would give you the answer to how much time it takes Rosa to run 1 mile.
Now divide 42 minutes by 14.
I do this to see how many miles she can run in 42 minutes.
Rosa can run 3 miles in 42 minutes.
Hope this helps!!
