The main function of the erythrocytes, which is responsible for carrying hemoglobin throughout the body is to carry and distribute oxygen to all the cells in the body. Having less erythrocytes or RBCs would result in anemia. When one has anemia, the most common manifestation is paleness and lack of energy.
