The first week the plant grew 1/8 inch. The second week the plan grew an extra 3/8 inch. To find out how many inches the plant grew in the past two weeks, add both measurements.
1/8 + 3/8 = 4/8 = 1/2
The plant grew 1/2 inches in the past 2 weeks.
